How many sounds can you get out of just one instrument? Dedicated to collaborating with and performing music by underrepresented composers, Maryland-based percussion quartet Matchstick Percussion - members Ben Hausman, Corey Sittinger, Malcolm Taylor, Zachary Bud Wilson - makes their Phillips Music debut with a program that presents a wide variety of compositions including staples in percussion repertoire and new contemporary works. They explore the world of sonic possibilities throughout their program with a limited set of instruments: vibraphones, hi-hats, wine glasses, drums, tin cans, and a record player. Their program, Resonant Reflections, features music by Julia Wolfe, Julius Eastman, John Cage, Juri Seo, Viet Cuong, and Andy Akiho.
