Matchstick Percussion is a Maryland-based percussion quartet dedicated to new music and contributing to growing the percussion repertoire.

We believe in helping to build equitable and diverse relations within the music community, and in time we look to help set the precedent of modern percussion repertoire.

Our Mission

Matstick Percussion is dedicated to the advancement of new music in percussion repertoire through innovative, exciting programming and interdisciplinary collaboration. By collaborating with a wide spectrum of creative voices, Matchstick presents music that is reflective of the diversity of a modern and inclusive artistic landscape, all while honoring the history and evolution of the percussion repertoire.

Through community engagement, the ensemble promotes new works, provides equitable access to percussion education, and fosters community through artistic collaboration. We strive to bring our work to new audiences through educational outreach and performance in non-traditional spaces.
