Matchstick Percussion is thrilled to take the stage at the 51st Annual Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC 2026) in Indianapolis, IN!

As one of the premier percussion events in the world, PASIC brings together artists, educators, and enthusiasts from across the globe from Wednesday, November 11 through Saturday, November 14, 2026. We are honored to present our featured performance on Thursday, November 12.

Our program showcases carry it (water) by composer Connie Li, a compelling work for percussion quartet and audio track that explores themes of home, community, and place.

Program notes:

This piece reflects my experience of Baltimore becoming my home through time spent working, walking, volunteering, playing, and dancing. I cite Baltimore poet Lucille Clifton, Baltimore club icon Big Tony, and DJ girlypopprincess as artists I engage with and honor; you will hear their voices and art throughout on a track. The piece’s track also includes voice notes sent from friends and colleagues talking about their favorite places in the city to accompany the soft sounds of the percussion quartet. – Connie Li
